Having worked at a BMW specialist for many years it was clear there was a gap in the market for skilled technicians who focused on repairing the niche faults common to this brand at an affordable cost.
From timing chains, swirl flap removal, steering rack guide block replacement, ABS rings to bootlid wiring repairs and transmission servicing.
This iconic brand has evolved over the years keeping on top of the latest training and tools means we are able to undertake complex repairs. Timing chains, valve stem seals, clutches and subframe under sealing being some of the common repairs we're able to undertake alongside servicing.
Having extensive knowledge and skills enables us to undertake timing chains, clutch replacement and servicing.

Does my air conditioning need recharging?
Your vehicle’s air conditioning system requires regular maintenance to operate at peak efficiency. If it has been a few years since your last recharge and you're unsure whether your air con is performing as effectively as it should, it may be time for a professional inspection.
Booking an air conditioning check can help determine whether your system simply needs a recharge or if there is a more significant issue requiring repair.
Recharging your air conditioning
Most manufacturers recommend recharging your air conditioning every 3 years. The reason for this is that air conditioning maintenance is often overlooked, as it’s not included in the MOT test and is rarely part of a standard service. However, regular recharging is essential to ensure optimal performance. This process restores refrigerant levels, replenishes lubricating oil, and includes the addition of UV dye for effective leak detection promoting long term reliability and comfort.
Is it more than just cold air?
If your car’s air con is blowing warm air or working inconsistently, a recharge can restore cooling, reduce engine strain, and improve fuel efficiency. Beyond summer comfort, the air con also helps in winter by producing dry, warm air that quickly clears your windscreen, enhancing visibility. Regular maintenance keeps your system efficient, ensuring year round comfort and safety.
Cost of an air con recharge?
The cost to recharge your vehicle’s air conditioning system varies based on the type of refrigerant gas it requires. The vast majority of cars in the UK use one of two refrigerants: R134A or R1234YF.
For vehicles equipped with R134A, the recharge service is priced at £75.
Vehicles that require the newer R1234YF refrigerant incur a recharge cost of £145.
It is essential to understand that these refrigerants are not compatible with each other. Furthermore, the recharge ports are designed differently for each type, ensuring that it is impossible to refill a system with the incorrect refrigerant gas.
How to tell which air con gas you require
Vehicles manufactured before 2012 typically use R134A refrigerant. Since 1st January 2017, all new vehicles have been required to use the more environmentally friendly R1234YF refrigerant, as R134A has a higher global warming potential and is being phased out. Vehicles produced between 2012 and 2016 may contain either R134A or R1234YF refrigerant, due to the gradual transition during this period.
To confirm which refrigerant your vehicle uses, please contact us. Alternatively, you may find a label under the bonnet indicating the refrigerant type. If you are unable to locate it, you are welcome to visit us, and we will assist you. Please call us in advance so we can ensure someone is available at the time you wish to visit.
How the recharge process works
The air conditioning recharge process involves carefully removing any old refrigerant and oil from your vehicle’s system before replenishing it with the precise amount of new refrigerant and lubricant recommended by the manufacturer.
A vacuum test is conducted to check for any significant leaks, cracks, or damage that could cause refrigerant loss. As part of the service, we also add a UV dye additive contained within the oil to assist in detecting smaller leaks that may develop over time and are often not visible during the vacuum test.
The entire process typically takes around two hours, ensuring your vehicle’s interior vents once again deliver refreshing, cool air.
Please note: If your air conditioning stops cooling within weeks or months after the recharge, a fault investigation involving UV dye leak detection or nitrogen pressure testing is charged. If a small leak is confirmed and the system loses refrigerant a further recharge at the standard rate will be necessary
